1987 -- Northern State pounded out 19 hits and Nancy Grosz allowed just eight hits in two games as the Wolves swept a softball doubleheader from Minnesota-Morris. Northern won the opener 8-0 and the nightcap 4-2.
1997 -- Josh Heiden, John Scheuermann, Dave Urbaniak and Chris Patterson all won singles matches and the teams of Heiden-Urbaniak and Scheuermann and Chris Lamont each recorded doubles victories as Aberdeen Central downed Watertown 6-3 in high school tennis.
2002 -- Mobridge's boys and Leola's girls won team titles at the Mobridge Invitational golf tournament. Mobridge edged Leola by a single stroke, 251-252, on the boys' side, and Leola, with a score of 311, was 18 strokes better than second-place Faulkton.
2007 -- Leandro Barbosa scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half, including 15 consecutive points in one stretch, to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 95-87 National Basketball Association victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
2011 -- Aberdeen Central graduate and Northern State freshman Alli Arampatzis broke her own school record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12 feet, 9 inches competing at the Central College Open in Pella, Iowa.
