1986 - It took Redfield six overtimes to finally stop Aberdeen Roncalli 46-45, tying the South Dakota state record for the longest boys' high school game ever. Jim Bruce's free throw with 1:23 left in the final overtime proved to be the difference.
1991 - Aberdeen Central, the state's third-ranked basketball team, was led by Eric Kline's 26 points in beating No. 2 Mitchell 59-55.
1996 - Michael Jordan scored 39 points, including 22 in the third quarter, but it was not enough as the Denver Nuggets handed the Chicago Bulls a 105-99 National Basketball Association setback, snapping the Bulls' 18-game winning streak. Chicago dropped to 41-4 with the loss.
2001 - Aberdeen Legacy won both its games at the Class A round-robin amateur basketball region playoffs to earn a berth in the state tournament. Kevin Burckhard scored 32 points as Legacy rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to defeat Brookings Daktronics 121-97. Aberdeen also beat Brookings Young 128-94 with Travis Martin the leading scorer with 21 points.
2006 - Alex Hoffman poured in 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Eureka-Bowdle to a 57-39 high school girls' basketball victory over McLaughlin. Grace Thomsen added 11 points to the Eureka-Bowdle total.
2010 - Kristen Binger scored 15 points and Siara Binger and Taylor Jens followed with 10 points each as Hitchcock-Tulare handed Sunshine Bible a 57-28 high school girls' basketball setback.
