Taiwan outsmarts dolphin and whale poachers

The Taiwanese government announced plans to use <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="HHA000078" title="DNA (INACTIVE)" href="/topic/health/dna-%28inactive%29-HHA000078.topic">DNA</a> testing from dolphins and whales to convict suspected poachers. Poaching all dolphin and whale species is illegal in Taiwan. Using molecular biotechnology, officials will be able to detect dolphin and whale DNA even in scraps of meat.
