Sherri Shepherd Hops on 'Ride Along 2′ Following 'The View' Departure

Following her departure from "The View," Sherri Shepherd has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' "Ride Along 2" opposite Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

Shepherd will next be seen in Chris Rock's "Top Five," set to be screened in the Special Presentations section at the Toronto Film Festival in September. She had a recurring role on the CBS series "How I Met Your Mother" recently.

"Ride Along" became the highest-grossing film ever released in January at $134 million and won the box office for three weeks in a row. "Ride Along 2″ has already been dated for Jan. 15, 2016.

Tim Story will direct from a script a script by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay. Cube and Matt Alvarez will produce for CubeVision alongside Will Packer for Will Packer Productions, Larry Brezner and Scott Bernstein.

Shepherd announced on June 26 that she was leaving "The View" after seven years. She will depart after the Aug. 8 show.

She is represented by ICM Partners and Darris Hatch Management.

News of the "Ride Along 2" casting was first reported on Deadline.com.
