Yahoo Hires ABC 'Good Morning America' Weekend Anchor Bianna Golodryga

Bianna Golodryga, weekend co-anchor for ABC's "Good Morning America" since 2010, is joining Yahoo News and Katie Couric to head up the Internet media company's news and finance properties.

In her new role, Golodryga will work with Couric and Yahoo's editorial teams to cover daily news and analysis on major business and finance stories and contribute newsmaking interviews and enterprise features.

ABC News correspondent Paula Faris will take over the "GMA" weekend slot from Golodryga, alongside co-host Dan Harris.

Couric, who announced her move to Yahoo late last year as global anchor, said in a statement: "I have long admired Bianna's intellectual curiosity and versatility. She cares deeply about big issues and important stories, and I know that she'll find the freedom to explore a myriad of topics here at Yahoo both exhilarating and gratifying."

Couric's daytime talkshow, "Katie," syndicated by Disney-ABC Domestic Television, is ending with the current season.

Golodryga, who has served as co-anchor of the "GMA" weekend edition since April 2010, has interviewed newsmakers including President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, investor Warren Buffett and others. ABC's "Good Morning America Weekend" is currently the top-rated Saturday morning network news show.

"I am thrilled to join Katie and the Yahoo News and Finance teams," Golodryga said in a statement. "I am proud of my time at ABC and the ratings performance of 'GMA Weekend' while I was anchor, and I will miss my colleagues there. But nothing could be more exciting that being part of what Marissa Mayer is building at Yahoo, where I will have the opportunity to delve into more detail on topics ranging from Russia to Wall Street and everything in between."

So excited for the next chapter in my career-joining @katiecouric & the great team at @Yahoo" rel="nofollow" target="blank">Yahoo. Will always cherish my friends @abc & @GMA.--
