New Play by Pulitzer Winner Bruce Norris Set for New York Run

"The Qualms," the new play by Pulitzer winner Bruce Norris ("Clybourne Park"), has locked in a New York run at Off Broadway's Playwrights Horizons just ahead of the opening night of the show's world premiere run in Chicago.

Playwrights Horizons was the company that initially premiered Norris' 2010 play "Clybourne Park," which went on to win a Tony as well as the Pulitzer. Pam MacKinnon, the director of "Clybourne Park" as well as the upcoming Broadway revival of "A Delicate Balance," helms.

MacKinnon also directed the debut of "Qualms" at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater, where the play opens July 13. The show was already on the list of titles looking poised to elicit interest from Gotham producers, given the pedigree of the creative team involved.

Storyline of the play follows a swingers' party that is thrown off course by a couple of first-timers to the scene.

"The Qualms" will slide into the final slot of Playwright Horizon's 2014-15 season, rounding out a slate that also includes new plays by scribes including Samuel D. Hunter ("Pocatello") and Melissa James Gibson ("Placebo"). Exact dates haven't been set.

New York casting also has not yet been confirmed, but the Steppenwolf staging stars Kate Arrington, Diane Davis and Paul Oakley Stovall, among others.
