Ora TV, the digital network funded by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim HelÃº, has recruited Jamie Schutz, who previously ran production for Ogilvy & Mather's branded-entertainment division, as EVP of branded entertainment.
Schutz will lead production, brand development and entertainment for the company, working closely with Stick Figure Prods., the unscripted production arm of Ora TV.
Schutz previously headed production for Ogilvy Entertainment, where he directed a documentary film on the life and art of Andy Warhol for the Andy Warhol Museum. He also directed and produced projects for such brands as DuPont, IBM, Unilever, IKEA, Philips, Lenovo and Expedia.
Prior to Ogilvy Entertainment, Schutz led production for Chaos Squared Prods. His TV credits include CBS's "Survivor," USA Network's "Eco-Challenge: Borneo," Fox's "Nanny 911" and TLC's "Miami Ink." Schutz currently serves on the advisory board for the Producers Guild of America East.
"Jamie brings with him 20 years of experience producing and directing outstanding TV, and we look forward to him further building out the Ora brand," Ora TV CEO Jon Housman said.
Ora launched in July 2012 with "Larry King Now," available on Hulu and Ora.tv. Ora TV's other programming includes "Politicking with Larry King," distributed both digitally and on linear TV internationally; "Real Girl's Kitchen" with Haylie Duff, premiering on the Cooking Channel on June 7; "Brown Bag Wine Tasting" with William Shatner; and "Off The Grid" with Jesse Ventura.
In April 2013, Ora TV acquired Stick Figure Studios, a documentary and reality-series production company based in New York. Stick Figure projects include "Catching Hell," which premiered on the Weather Channel on June 1 and will air digitally on Ora TV.
