Amazon.com is now streaming comedy-drama "The Spectacular Now," starring Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller, exclusively to Prime Instant Video customers under its content-licensing deal with distributor A24.
Teen love story "Spectacular Now," directed by James Ponsoldt, is based on a novel by Tim Thorpe and co-written by "500 Days of Summer" scribe Michael H. Weber. Teller stars as an alcoholic high school senior who tries to "save" Woodley's introvert from her bookish ways by dating her.
Other A24-distributed films exclusively available on Prime Instant Video include Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez; "Ginger & Rosa," directed by Sally Potter, starring Elle Fanning and Annette Bening; and "The Bling Ring," directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Emma Watson.
Future titles covered under the pact, reached last fall, are to include Scarlett Johansson-starrer "Under the Skin" and "The Rover," helmed by David Michôd and starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.
A24 acquired North American rights to "Spectacular Now" after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year. New York-based A24 was formed in 2012 with backing from Guggenheim Partners.
