LONDON -- Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard are set to star in "Prima," produced by Daniel Dubiecki ("Juno," "Up in the Air") and Lara Alameddine of Los Angeles-based The Allegiance Theater. Embankment is selling international territories.
Farmiga stars as a mother who will stop at nothing to realize her daughter Jesse's ballet dancing dream to play the coveted role of Sleeping Beauty. Sarsgaard plays a "devil in dance-shoes" instructor. The feel-good comedy about a badass just-teen ballerina starts pre-production this summer. The search for a 13-year-old newcomer is already under way.
Evan Greenberg, a NYC musical-theater director, will helm the pic. Choreography will be provided by Benjamin Millepied ("Black Swan," "Paris National Ballet") and Kurt Froman ("Black Swan," "Billy Elliot" on Broadway).
CAA is representing the producers for the U.S. sale.
Farmiga and Sarsgaard are represented by CAA, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Peikoff Mahan Law Office.
Evan Greenberg is represented by CAA and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
