Linda Hamilton Tapped for Season Two of Syfy's 'Defiance'

Linda Hamilton has been tapped to join the season two cast of Syfy's drama series "Defiance."

Hamilton, known for her breakout performance as Sarah Conner in James Cameron's "Terminator" franchise, will take on the recurring guest role of Pilar McCawley, the wife of Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene) and mother to their three children. Following a bout with mental illness that led her to attempt to murder her children, Pilar is back, but the motives for her return are still unclear.

Hamilton previously appeared opposite Ron Perlman in the CBS series "Beauty and the Beast" and her film credits include "Mr. Destiny," "Silent Fall" and "Dante's Peak." She joins previously announced season two additions James Murray, William Atherton and Anna Hopkins.

Kevin Murphy ("Desperate Housewives," "Caprica") will continue his role as exec producer and showrunner, with "Smallville's" Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin returning as exec producers for season two and Michael Taylor as consulting producer. Co-exec producer Michael Nankin will direct the season two opener.

Universal Cable Productions' "Defiance," a partnership between Syfy and Trion Worlds and the first-ever convergence of TV and online gaming, returns for a second season June 19.
