U.S. actor John C. Reilly has joined the A-list cast of hot Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos' dystopian drama "The Lobster," which just started shooting in Ireland.
Set in a near future where people who are single get arrested and forced to find a matching mate within 45 days, "The Lobster" is the first English-language pic by Lanthimos whose dysfunctional family drama "Dogtooth" (pictured) won the 2009 Un Certain Regard nod in Cannes and was nominated for a foreign-language film Oscar.
Also joining the pic, for which a seven week Irish shoot is planned, are thesps Ashley Jensen ("Extras"), Michael Smiley ("Spaced"), and Jessica Barden ("Coronation Street").
Previously announced "Lobster" cast comprises Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, and Ariane Labed.
Co-penned by Lanthimos and long-time writing partner Efthimis Filippou, the pic is being co-produced by Ireland's Element Pictures and UK production companies Limp and Scarlet Films.
The UK's Protagonist Pictures is handling world sales.
