One of the two people killed by a suspected drunk driver Thursday morning at South by Southwest in Austin is being remembered by his company MassiveMusic. Steven Craenmehr, who was attending the music portion of the festival, was 35 years old and had worked with the company in Amsterdam for eight years as creative director and "sonic branding specialist."
The statement on the company's website reads:
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our close friend and colleague Steven Craenmehr, 35, on March 13th, 2014 at SXSW. During the 8 years that Steven worked for MassiveMusic, we got to know him as an unstoppable force, full of life, love and laughter. This is an irreplaceable loss for the MassiveMusic family and we are grateful for the years we spent with him. Our thoughts are with Steven's family and friends.
MassiveMusic is described on its blog as a music agency network with offices in Amsterdam, London, New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai. Among its activites are connecting brands such as Puma with musicians.
In addition to his work as creative director for Massive, Craenmehr was a singer, composer and music supervisor. He was previously with Big Orange Music.
The other victim has not been identified. Several other people remain in serious condition.
