Nickelodeon launched a free multimedia book for its upcoming Kids' Choice Awards on Apple's iBooks reader, aimed a driving viewers to tune into the live awards broadcast later this month.
The Viacom-owned cabler touted it as the first dedicated digital book produced for a live awards show (as opposed to a standalone mobile app).
The KCA iBooks book -- which weighs in at a hefty 1.34 gigabytes -- is designed for Apple's iPad tablet. The digital book includes info, photos, video and quizzes about this year's nominees and host, actor-producer Mark Wahlberg, as well as content from past years' shows. The free book is available through iTunes.
The book will be updated leading up to the broadcast, which airs live on Saturday, March 29, 8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT (tape delayed for West Coast). The KCA awards show has been among Nick's highest-rated programming.
Nick's KCA iBooks book will include a live countdown clock to the show, synced to the user's time-zone setting; a ballot for users to keep track of their picks; a treasure hunt with items hidden throughout the book; and a 360-degree view of the Kids' Choice Awards orange blimp.
Via the iBooks book, users will be able to preview all nominated content that's available on iTunes, including song previews and movie trailers.
Nominees for this year's KCA include: Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, Pharrell Williams, Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, Mila Kunis, Steve Carell, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, Pitbull, Bruno Mars, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Jennette McCurdy, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez.
