Carey Mulligan, Bill Nighy to Star in West End 'Skylight'

Carey Mulligan, Bill Nighy and Matthew Beard will topline a new West End revival of David Hare's 1995 play "Skylight," to be helmed by Stephen Daldry.

Mulligan was last on stage in the Atlantic Theater Company production of "Through a Glass Darkly," while Nighy has appeared in a string of Hare plays including "Pravda," "Map of the World" and, on Broadway, "The Vertical Hour." In "Skylight," he'll reprise a role he portrayed in an earlier revival of the title.

Beard, a Brit screen thesp ("An Education" with Mulligan, "And When Did You Last See Your Father?"), makes his legit debut in the production.

Storyline of "Skylight" follows a schoolteacher (Mulligan) who receives surprise visits from both her former lover (Nighy) and his son (Beard). The play was seen in Gotham in a limited Broadway run in 1996.

On the West End, Daldry, whose film output includes "Billy Elliot" and "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," recently directed Peter Morgan's "The Audience" starring Helen Mirren.

Produced by Robert Fox Limited, "Skylight" runs June 6-Aug. 23 at the Wyndham's Theater.
