One of the most illustrious street dance battles will be making its television debut this month, as Ovation announces it will premiere Red Bull's BC One final on Feb. 22.
The annual one-on-one bboy competition launched in 2004, and is sponsored by Red Bull. 2013′s BC One battle -- to be broadcast on the arts-centric cabler -- took place in South Korea last November following nine months of preliminary battles in 53 countries. Battle features 16 bboys hailing from countries including France, Algeria, Colombia and the U.S., with one being crowned the winner of BC One.
Ovation's telecast of the BC One battle -- one of the most competitive annual competitions in the bboy community -- marks a notable step forward for the event, along with street dance, which has typically been siloed into fabricated battle settings such as MTV's now-defunct "America's Best Dance Crew." BC One was previously live-streamed online, like similar international battles including France's Juste Debout.
