Emilia Clarke of "Game of Thrones" and Brie Larson are up for the role of Sarah Connor. While Clarke has long been believed to be the front-runner, sources tell Variety that the two re-tested this week for the role, which may show that Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna are still undecided on who will play the part.
That decision is suppose to come by week's end as it is expected that the studio will then test men -- including Garret Hedlund and Nicholas Hoult -- for the role of Kyle Reese sometime next week.
"Thor: The Dark World" helmer Alan Taylor is directing the film with Skydance and Annapurna co-financing along with the studio. David Ellison is producing for Skydance and Megan Ellison producing for Annapurna. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script.
Plot details have not been revealed other than this is the first film in a standalone trilogy.
Arnold Schwarznegger is also set to come back.
The movie has a release date of July 1, 2015.
Clarke can be seen next in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." He is repped by CAA and Robert Stein Managment.
Deadline Hollywood broke the news.
