Universal Music Group topper Lucian Grainge will be in the spotlight on Jan. 25 as part of Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash at the Beverly Hilton.

The Recording Academy has selected Grainge to receive its President's Merit Award recognizing his long career and contributions to the music biz.

Grainge joined Universal Music's international wing in 1986. He moved through top posts in the recording and music publishing arms before being named chairman-CEO of the conglom in 2011.

Davis' annual gathering, held the night before the Grammy Awards, is the glitziest event of Grammy Week and always showcases a number of top performers. The Recording Academy has teamed with Davis to host the party for the past six years.
