Project, from Phil Lord and Chris Miller's Lord Miller banner at 20th Century Fox TV, follows two strangers who must overcome their differences and work together to ensure the survival of the human race.
The single-cam comedy is created by Forte, who will write "Last Man" and exec produce alongside Lord and Miller. Seth Cohen, prez of TV at the Lord Miller shingle, will also exec produce.
"Last Man" drew multiple network bids before the comedy was sold to Fox. The sale falls under Lord Miller's exclusive three-year deal with 20th that was inked in May and calls for the pair to develop comedy projects.
Forte's history with the Lord/Miller duo goes back to when the thesp voiced a character on the pair's show "Clone High." Lord and Miller are currently in production on "The Lego Movie" and are set to helm "22 Jump Street," the sequel to "21 Jump Street."
Forte departed "Saturday Night Live" last year, and currently stars in feature film "Nebraska," which will debut next month.
Forte is repped by UTA, Mosaic and attorney Ken Richman. Miller and Lord are repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
