The Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort recently unveiled two new eateries and a gelateria as part of a $1 million enhancement of a former leased restaurant space.
The previous restaurant concepts in that space had never really seemed to "gel," and so management decided to take it over and relaunch several new eateries in its place, a hotel representative said.
The recently opened 156-seat Café Med serves Italian cuisine in a contemporary setting, while Burger Craze seats 75 guests and offers classic American fare such as hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken wings. The gelateria serves 24 flavors including 16 authentic gelato flavors and four sorbets.
“You have to keep up with the times and constantly meet the demands and needs of guests and locals,” said Cheryl Chase, executive vice president and principal of Connecticut-based Chase Enterprises, the real estate group that owns the property. “We have guests that have been with us for 40 years, and year-round we want to serve our local community.”
Her father, David Chase built the Deerfield hotel, which opened in 1971.
The restaurant revamp represents the final stage of the Deerfield hotel's multimillion dollar renovation project. In 2011, the hotel was rebranded from a Howard Johnson's after completing a more than $5 million makeover of its rooms and public spaces.
