U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, is challenging U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, to a wager over the outcome of the NBA Finals pitting the Miami Heat and his city’s San Antonio Spurs.
She’s anteing up Joe’s Stone Crabs, which shows her confidence in the Heat. A dinner for two, including shipping, ranges from $127 to $194, depending on the size of the claws. Alas, stone crab season ended last month, so the payoff would be “previously frozen claw.”
Wasserman Schultz’s district doesn’t include Miami’s American Airlines Arena, but she does represent South Beach, home to Joe’s – and the place that TV commentators and some players frequently and incorrectly describe as the home of the Heat.
Castro asked his Twitter followers what he should put up in response, but he hasn’t yet said what he’ll wager.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
