Fort Lauderdale's 'Jungle Queen' a South Florida institution

The company is about 65 years old and the current boat, which holds roughly 500, was built in 1970. The experience: Three cruises (9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m) take you along the New River by mega-mansions and working boatyards. The three-hour narrated day cruise includes historical and entertaining tidbits about the homes and the river. Midway through the trip, day-cruisers step onto a patch of dry land along the river to watch alligator wrestling. Four-hour dinner cruise features live entertainment. Details: 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Day cruise: adult, $17.50; 12 and younger, $12.75; Dinner cruise: adult, $39.95; 12 and younger, $21.95 ($1 fuel surcharge per ticket is also charged.) Food: Hot dogs, soft drinks available during cruise break. Dinner cruise menu: family-style chicken, barbecue and shrimp. A tip: Alcohol served only at dinner.
