The holiday shopping crowd mobs a KB Toys cashier at Sawgrass Mills in 2004. The 86-year-old toy retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 11, 2008, with plans to shut its 277 stores, citing a "sudden drop" in sales. The Chapter 11 filing came three years after KB Toys exited bankruptcy by closing almost half of its 1,200 stores. KB Toys had four stores in Broward County, none in Palm Beach County.
