Shanovia Dove Palm Beach Lakes junior Pos.: Guard; Ht.: 5-7 Season highlights: Dove rose to the occasion throughout the season, but perhaps no more so than her season-high 36-point effort in a 63-61 come-from-behind victory against Santaluces in a Class 7A regional semifinal. The Rams had trailed by 11 points in the third quarter, but Dove had 17 fourth-quarter points to give Palm Beach Lakes the victory. Averaged 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game in guiding Rams (16-12) to regional final berth. Comment: In such a demanding season, Dove answered nearly every challenge. She continually faced double- and triple teams, box-and-one defensive looks and had the daunting task of a difficult schedule with billing of seven teams that advanced to state tournament. Additional pressure was placed on her shoulders with void of leadership lost from last year's Player of the Year Myeisha Hall. Interested schools include University of Central Florida, Miami, Jacksonville University, FAU, Seton Hall and Virginia Tech. "The level of responsbility that she had was tripled," said Palm Beach Lakes coach Cassandra Rahming. "Originally, we were going to have six or seven returning players and we ended up having just three of them. We had a lot of turnover. There were a lot of things that were out of our control. She fought through all of it." Athlete's quote: "Even though it was tough, our team stuck together. We had to come out fighting hard. I'm going to remember the Santaluces game because people were not expecting us to win. I was surprised to win Player of the Year because they were so many other good players out there. It was challenging because teams were mainly sticking two players on me. I had to carry more responsiblity and I had to have more of a vocal role. I wanted to show that we can pull through even in the hard times."
