New FAU head coach Charlie Partridge has wasted little time to make his first hire by adding South Florida-native Dan Shula to his staff.
The hire was first reported by CoachingSearch.com.
Shula is the grandson of legendary coach Don Shula and the son of David Shula, who coached the Bengals in the mid-1990's.
Shula was last the wide receivers coach at Illinois State, and he's expected to continue in that role at FAU. Shula is a St. Thomas Aquinas alum and former University of Miami graduate assistant. For the last four years, he has been an assistant at Illinois State.
Partridge was announced as FAU's fourth head coach Tuesday. He met with the staff orphaned by Carl Pelini on Wednesday and is expected to maintain interim defensive coordinator Jovan Dewit in the same role, on full-time basis.
Shula will be the first member of the family to coach in the Shula Bowl — the annual matchup between FAU and FIU
