Appoints commissioners, who must be confirmed by the Senate. Received more than $340,000 from utilities and those who represent them for his U.S. Senate campaign. Executives of the state's four largest electric utilities accompanied him on a taxpayer-funded trade mission to Europe in July 2008. Two utility executives and five others at firms that represent utilities attended his 2008 wedding. FPL gave $1 million to Crist's 2008 push for a property tax reduction amendment. Crist reshaped the PSC with commission and utility outsiders in October amid criticism of "cozy" ties between the agency and the utilities it regulates. He said he wants commissioners who represent the "best interest of the people, the consumers of our state."
