Office Depot, which recently merged with OfficeMax, announced key executive appointments on Wednesday -- many of whom are familiar names from the original Office Depot.
Steve Schmidt is president of international operations, his current position. But will only be staying on for a year while a search is completed for a new head, to be based in Europe, the company said.
Michael Allison retains his human resources position at Office Depot. He is the chief people officer.
Elisa Garcia, an Office Depot alumna, is chief legal officer.
As previously announced newcomer Stephen Hare, who worked with new Office Depot Chief Executive Roland Smith at The Wendy's Co., is the new chief financial officer.
Office Depot said it would launch searches for chief strategy and innovation officer, executive vice president of retail and executive vice president of e-commerce.
"In selecting my executive committee, I am bringing together top performers and trusted advisors to help shape the strategic decisions that impact our global business," Smith said in the press release. “The team offers a breadth of experience across a range of environments...."
