Miramar quarterback Nick Jeanty wasn’t sure if New Mexico State was going to have room in their signing class for him, but late Monday night the Aggies called to tell the dual-threat they had a scholarship. Jeanty committed to the Sun Belt program on the spot, and will sign with New Mexico State on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound quarterback had been waiting for a school to take a chance on him after a senior regular season in which he threw for 1,340 yards and accounted for 21 touchdowns, but nothing came until New Mexico State reached out in January. Jeanty took an official visit to campus last weekend, and left impressed.
“I felt at home on my visit,” Jeanty said. “I really liked the players and the coaches.”
Jeanty will become the third Miramar quarterback to sign an FBS scholarship in the last six years joining Ryan Williams and Geno Smith.
