THE SKINNY: The second-ranked Hurricanes built a 30-0 halftime lead -- the largest first-half deficit at home for Penn State under Joe Paterno--propelled by 94 first-quarter rushing yards by Clinton Portis and cruised in front of a Beaver Stadium record-crowd of 109,313. Ken Dorsey threw for a career-best 344 yards.
QUOTABLE: "This was kind of my birthday present to myself. I knew the line was going to perform well, and I followed their lead," Running back Clinton Portis, who turned 20 that day.
