Fadol Brown has had his fill of South Florida.
The former FIU player committed to Ole Miss Friday, eschewing a Miami offer that was reportedly strong in the running.
At six-foot-five and 270 pounds, Brown is without a doubt ready to step into the SEC once he gets on campus in Oxford — a fact that made him so enticing to a defensive line-strapped Miami as well.
Brown had 10 tackles and 2 sacks his freshman season at FIU, but he transferred from after playing spring ball with the new FIU coaching staff. In the spring game, he registered four sacks.
FIU didn't initially release Brown from his scholarship after he asked to transfer, so he enrolled at Missississippi's Itawamba Community College and with the plan of playing his 2013 season there.
FIU eventually did release him from his scholarship, and he was flooded with interest from SEC schools and the Hurricanes.
Brown said in an interview with 247sports that his relationship with Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze was a big reason he committed ot the Rebels.
Because Brown never played at Itawamba CC, he will have to sit out the 2013 season.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
