THE SKINNY: The Hurricanes took a 34-0 halftime lead en route to their fifth national championship in 18 years as receiver Andre Johnson, quarterback Ken Dorsey and a stifling defense dominated the Cornhuskers. Johnson caught seven passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns and Dorsey threw for 362 yards. The defense recovered two fumbles and scored when James Lewis returned an interception 47 yards. Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch, meanwhile, had 22 carries for 114 yards and Nebraska was held to a season-low 239 yards, including 197 yards rushing -- nearly 120 below its season average. Larry Coker became the first rookie coach to win a national title since 1948.
