About FAU: The Owls are coming off a disappointing road trip,where they played three games in three days in Seattle and then had a day off before playing American in Washington, D.C. The Owls have been inconsistent on both ends of the court. Junior guard Greg Gantt leads the Owls, averaging 14.0 points per game, but had just 2 points in Wednesday’s loss at American. Junior forward Kore White is the top rebounder, with 5.8 per game, and is adding 11.3 points. FAU is averaging 69 points per game, and opponents 71.5.
About George Mason: The Patriots have been led by senior forward Ryan Peterson (6-6, 237), who has had a double-double in all three games and is averaging 20.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore Vetrail Vaughns (6-2, 184) is averaging 15.0 points and Sherrod Wright (6-4, 196) is averaging 14.0 points. George Mason point guard Andre Cornelius has been suspended for the first 10 games of the season. Byron Allen is replacing him in the lineup. Paul Hewitt is in his first year as coach after 11 years at Georgia Tech. The Patriots went 27-7 last year, advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Ohio State.
