First year: 1950s Established status: Populations are confirmed breeding and apparently self-sustaining for 10 or more consecutive years. Estimated Florida range: 67 counties At least 10 years Statewide trend: Stable Threats to natives: Red foxes are notorious for destroying sea turtle nests, and they may similarly impact other species. Species Account: Introduction may have been natural or human influenced. Species now occurs throughout the state. Hazard to humans as a vector of disease, notably rabies.
