Bryan Voltaggio: Closing Family Meal in Baltimore 'was no easy decision'

George Allen

In 2006 George Allen was running for re-election of his U.S. Senate seat. During the campaign, on more than one occasion, Allen used the word macaca to refer to a young man filming him for his opponent's campaign. Macaca is an epithet for North African indigenous people. Allen insisted he had never heard the word before and later apologized for its use.
