New Presbyterian Church will hold a Faith & Freedom Weekend, March 2-4 at Pompano Beach High School, 600 NE 13th Ave. Featured will be eleven seminars, a Liberty Bell replica display, and costumed performers reprising the Founding Fathers.
Seminars are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first day, then 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the next. Also planned is a banquet at 6 p.m. March 2, with keynote speech by Congressman Allen West.
Seminar topics on the first day will include the Mayflower Compact, the Sons of Liberty and "The Impact of the Pulpits." On the second day, the topics will include a look at statesmen like Franklin, Jefferson and Madison, and how the country's founding is basic to modern liberties.
Besides West, speakers will include Mark Beliles, founder of the Providence Foundation; Paul Jehle, executive director of the Plymouth Rock Foundation; and Peter Lillback, president of Westminster Theological Seminary.
The weekend will feature a display of a replica of the Liberty Bell, plus bronze fullsize plaques representing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. A promotional video for the weekend is here.
The high school will also be the scene for a Patriotic Spectacular concert, at 2 p.m. March 4. Performing will be the 100-voice Concert Choir, The King's Brass, The New Young Patriots, The New Presbyterian Brass Quintet, and the school’s ROTC Color Guard.
