Get a free reusable tote bag in honor of Earth Day at Target on Sunday.
Beginning at 10 a.m. stores will give away 1.5 million reusable tote bags, some stuffed with samples and coupons, to encourage customers to cut down on use of paper and plastic bags at checkout.
Samples of sustainable products likeMethod Dish Soap, Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent, Annie’s Bunny Grahams, Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Cream and $40 in coupons will be stuffed inside 250,000 bags. (Don't forget, those Target coupons can be used at Publix markets as a competitor coupon!)
It pays to bring your own totes. Target gives a 5-cent discount for each bag you use. 80 million customers bring their own bags. in-store recycling centers installed in 2011 also have helped helping the chain collect more than 1,000 tons of plastic, glass and aluminum bottles and cans, 7,000 tons of shrink wrap and plastic bags, and 7 million pounds of electronics, according to a press release.
