Visit Florida botanical gardens for free on Friday to celebrate 2013 National Public Gardens Day. This could be a fun thing to do with Mom for Mother's Day.
Get free admission for up to 10 people at more than 80 botanical and public gardens around the country through Rainbird and Better Homes and Gardens, the event sponsors. Entry fees at some gardens normally cost $25.
Participating gardens in Florida include Montgomery Botanical Garden in Coral Gables, The Botanical Gardens at Kona Kai Resort in Key Largo, Naples Botanical Garden, the Botanic Garden at Lakes Park, Block Arboretum at the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville, University of South Florida Botanical Gardens in Tampa.
The program, in its 5th year, was founded by the American Public Gardens Association to raise awareness of America’s public gardens and the role they play in promoting environmental stewardship, water and plant conservation, according to the National Public Gardens website.
