Foreclosed homes in limbo

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputy Luciano Kovalski looks into the broken window of a vacant home at 419 South D St., Lake Worth. The Bank of New York obtained a foreclosure judgment in its favor in January 2010, but the public auction of the property was repeatedly postponed. The Sheriff's Office wrote to the bank in August 2011 warning of criminal activity in and near the house. The bank finally sold the property at auction for under $16,000 in March 2012.
