Watch out for those gym rats!
While you're busy sweating off some pounds, the gym rats are also busy...giving your wallet or purse a slim-down.
Deputies said Peter Strohminger checked in at the front desk of the Potter Park YMCA in Sarasota, but instead of working out, he walked to the weight room key rack, swiped some keys, headed out to the parking lot and and broke into cars, according to a news release from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
The first time the 24-year-old Sarasota man broke into a car he hit pay-dirt and stole several items out of a purse left inside the car. But when he tried to use his successful technique just two days later he was caught by the vehicle's owner and a YMCA supervisor, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Strohminger is charged with two counts of Petit Theft, one count of Burglary and one count of Attempted Burglary.
At the time of his arrest Strohminger was out of jail on bond following his arrest earlier this year on five cases of dealing in stolen property and providing false ownership information to a pawn dealer.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
