Danny Wilson died in 2004 after a construction accident at a resort in Kissimmee. Friends, co-workers and the resort raised $119,465 to pay for future college expenses for his daughter who at the time was 12-years-old. Jolene Mae Wilson, the girl's aunt, opened up four accounts to manage the money. according to news release from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
When Danny's daughter was preparing to attend college in 2011, she tried to contact her aunt numerous times about the trust fund, but Wilson would not return her calls. So the family then contacted the Sheriff's Office, according to the report.
An investigation by detectivves revealed Wilson withdrew at least $53,076 from three of the accounts and the fourth account was closed, but none of the original money was given to her niece.
After detectives tried to contact Jolene Wilson, the St.Cloud aunt would not return calls.
On March 8, Wilson, 53, was finally arrested and charged with Scheme to Defraud, Obtaining Property Over $50,000 and booked into the Osceola County Jail with $100,000 bond.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
