FAU appears firmly placed inside the NCAA Tournament's field of 64 (Perfect game says so, as does Baseball America) so the Sun Belt Conference tournament can do little more than help the Owls sleep a bit easier at night.
FAU starts its double-elimination tournament play Wednesday at 10 a.m. with a game against Western Kentucky in Lafayette, La. A loss likely won't do much to hurt the Owls, but a win strengthens the Owls' case to play for a national championship.
No. 4-seed FAU swept the No. 5 seeded Hilltoppers in the teams' only series of the year May 10-12, winning by a combined score of 29-11.
The winner of the contest will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Troy and No. 8 seed Arkansas State. The loser of the FAU-WKU game will play the loser of that contest.
All games will be broadcast online. Links can be found on the Sun Belt Tournament's landing page.
