Christian Milstead's first-ever two-interception game Saturday earned him a Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honor Monday.
Milstead intercepted two passes, returning one for a 61-yard touchdown in FAU's 41-7 win over Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. The FAU win kept the team's bowl hopes alive.
Milstead's first interception Saturday stopped USM's best scoring chance of the first half. His second put the game well out of reach at 27-0.
Milstead is FAU's third player to win Conference USA POW honors. Quarterback Jaquez Johnson earned the offensive POW honors when FAU beat UAB in October. Milstead's cornerback partner, D'Joun Smith, has one twice this season — once for his Sept. 14 performance against USF, and again for his three INT performance against Tulane on Nov. 2. Smith leads the nation in interceptions with 7.
