Who knew there was so much dough in bagels?
Keith Lynn Martin, 47, a former employee at a Delray Beach bagel shop, has been accused of stealing nearly $30,000 from the business, police said, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Martin, a manager at The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company, initially reported being robbed while he was leaving to make a business deposit of $7,189.93 at a bank.
A director of the company later reported a theft from a safe and that Martin had failed to report.
Instead of finding money in the safe, the director found Martin's company-issued cell phone and his resignation, according to the police report.
Martin reportedly 'fessed up and told investigators that he had a gambling problem as well as some health issues and he lost the money at a casino.
