The ninth annual “ForEverglades” benefit, marking the 20th anniversary of the Everglades Foundation, raised more than $2 million.
The event, last weekend at The Breakers on Palm Beach, was headlined by Katie Couric, who provided a dose of national attention to the Everglades by frequently tweeting about the event to her 1 million-plus followers.
Performers included the Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett. The actor Michael Keaton received the Everglades Advocacy Award.
Partisan politics was on hold for the event, which included U.S. Reps. Patrick Murphy, a Democrat, and Tom Rooney, a Republican, along with Republican state legislators Joe Negron, Wilton Simpson and Jamie Grant and Democratic legislators Mark Pafford and Amanda Murphy.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
