Shula is the winningest coach of all time, with the lion's share of his 347 victories earned while at the helm of the Miami Dolphins from 1970-1995. Before Shula took over, the Dolphins' best record in a season had been 5-8-1. During his 26-year tenure, he presided over only two losing seasons, winning the Super Bowl twice--including during the 17-0 season of 1972--the AFC five times and reaching the AFC Championship game seven times. The Dolphins have not reached the NFL's final four in the 16 years since he stepped aside. |
