Dolphins' 2013 schedule released

The NFL schedule-makers are testing the Dolphins right out of the gate with three of their first four games on the road.

The Dolphins open the season Sept. 8 at Cleveland. The Browns feature new coach Rob Chudzinski, a former Dolphins assistant. But that's the start of a brutal early season stretch that includes back-to-back opening road games, playing one game at Sun Life Stadium in September, and all the while battling some of the NFL's best quarterbacks.

The Dolphins' second game is at Indianapolis, which features quarterback Andrew Luck, on Sept. 15. Then they come home to host Super Bowl hopeful Atlanta and quarterback Matt Ryan on Sept. 22, before going back on the road against New Orleans and quarterback Drew Brees on Sept. 30. That's the first of the Dolphins' two "Monday Night Football" appearances.

The Week 5 game is no easy task. Miami hosts Super Bowl champion Baltimore on Oct. 6 before getting its bye week on Oct. 13.

The Dolphins host Buffalo on Oct. 20, visit New England on Oct. 27, and four days later, on Halloween, host Cincinnati in a Thursday night game.

The Dolphins follow that with a Monday night game at Tampa Bay on Nov. 11, the start of a four-game late-season home stretch that includes San Diego (Nov. 17), Carolina (Nov. 24) and the New York Jets(Dec. 1).

Then comes a tough back-to-back at Pittsburgh (Dec. 8) and hosting New England (Dec. 15).

The Dolphins close by visiting Buffalo (Dec. 22) and hosting the Jets (Dec. 29) in a game that could have playoff implications.

Opening with three of four on the road is definitely the toughest test of the season. Then the Dolphins have to bone up on victories as they play five of seven at home. The Dolphins close with three of their last five games on the road.
