Lou Caputo, a Florida Keys Sheriff's Office deputy who dressed as the Christmas "Grinch," issued onions instead of traffic citations to motorists who slightly violated -- that's speeding no more than 5-mph over the limit -- in Marathon, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
The Grinch often gives drivers the option of the onion or a ticket.
Nine times out of 10 they accept the vegetable and appreciate the holiday forgiveness, deputies said.
Somebody actually prefers a ticket and fine?
Ten onions were doled out on Monday afternoon.
Caputo has worn the Grinch costume almost every holiday season since seeing actor Jim Carrey in the 2000 movie of the same name, the release stated.
