Drag racer slams into home

Mike Fiztpatrick (center) with help from firefighters Brandon Brescia (left) and Dennis Flushing (right rear) shore up the car port of a home in the 1600 block of north Seacrest Blvd. A drag racing car that was being moved across the street went out of control when the throttle stuck open, raced across Seacrest Blvd. and crashed into the house, narrowly missing a car in the carport and knocking out the supports for the carport roof. No one was injured. The home is owned by Joanne Loudin who was home at the time. She has lived there for 38 years and said she has hand many accidents end up in her front yard but this was the first time a car struck her house. She has no insurance. The car was driven by Maxwell Lamar Wells, the nephew of the car owner, Albert Millines who said he had nearly $50,000 invested in the race car which was totaled in the crash. He said the drag car is capable of speeds around 160mph.
