Man jailed after assaulting girlfriend for 'casting spells,' cops say

Cops say Rubin Leonard Hugee, 29, was jailed after he reportedly grabbed his girlfriend by her hair, grabbed a knife and threatened to kill her at her godmother's home in Riviera Beach, reports The Palm Beach Post.

Hugee later told authorities his girlfriend's godmother is a "Root Lady" and that he went to her home because of the possibility that his girlfriend was trying to "cast a spell on him," the affidavit stated.

Hey, it looks like the magic worked: He spent a spell in jail.

It seems voodoo is an effective method of getting folks behind bars.
