If you can get a nursing degree from a state unviersity, the job prospects are great, due to a nursing shortage. The average salary of graduates was almost $57,000. But at FAU and many other state unversities, it¿s tough to get into the program. FAU¿s College of Nursing receives up to 1,000 applications for about 80 spaces. ¿We can¿t admit more because we don¿t have the faculty, and we on¿t have the resources to hire additional faculty,¿ said Marlaine Smith, dean of FAU¿s nursing college. Many state and community colleges and private college have started adding nursing bachelor degree programs to meet the demand.
