Report: New Year's "ball drop" blowup rings in 2012 with beer splashing, stabbing

A Palm City couple, a 26-year-old man and his 46-year-old girlfriend, quarreled over missing the "ball drop for New Year's," the man told sheriff's officials, reports Will Greenlee in his Off the Beat blog for in Stuart.

After some mutual beer-in-the-face splashing, the girlfriend's 19-year-old son, Brandon Scarpati, got involved in the spat, which became physical when the son allegedly stabbed the boyfriend's hand after putting the knife to his face, according to the arrest report.

It sounds as if we should be grateful they weren't on the roads.
